PM Narendra Modi Addresses Top CEOs at the Silicon Valley (Full Event Video Inside)

Amidst the hustle and bustle of top corporates of the leading IT firms, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the Digital India Mission and his Make in India initiative at the Silicon Valley. The giants were gathered at Fairmont Hotel and they honoured the PM with a standing ovation as soon as he reached the stage to address them. Mr. Modi was flanked by Sundar Pichai of Google, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, John Chambers of Cisco and Shantanu Narayan of Adobe on the stage. The event kick started with one of the most important topics running today – Digital Media.

In his speech, Narendra Modi covered all the important aspects, from green energy to the Internet of Things. He stated, “Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, they are the new neighbourhoods of our new world. The most fundamental debate for our youth is the choice between Android, iOS or Windows. The pace at which people are taking to digital technology defies our stereotypes of age, education, language and income. In this digital age, we have an opportunity to transform lives of people in ways that was hard to imagine just a couple of decades ago.”

Talking on Digital Media, Mr. Modi conveyed that the plan is to connect all schools and colleges via broadband internet facility. He also announced that soon around 500 railway stations will be connected through Wi-Fi as a result of Government’s collaboration with Google. “In this digital age, we have an opportunity to transform lives of people in ways that was hard to imagine just a couple of decades ago. I see technology as a means to empower and as a tool that bridges the distance between hope and opportunity,” he added.

On the occasion, Mr. Sundar Lal Pichai of Google said that Modi has contributed a lot in this field through his innovativeness and vision. Giving the example of Nisha Madhulika who creates Youtube videos of vegetarian recipes, he added, “It is not just about being online, but what you do online. India is the fastest growing startup economy in the world. They are not just Indian success stories, but global success stories.”
