Calendar Girls – movie review

Calendar Girls is another full of Indian melodrama film directed by Madhur Bhandarkar and co-produced by Sangeeta Ahir and Bhandarkar Entertainment. In Calender Girls, Madhur Bhandarkar is again returned with newcomer; wait! with a gang of newcomers. According to Madhur Bhandarkar, three fourth of the movie is based on reality and rest one-fourth is fiction. Calendar Girls is an outdated lesson on morality, but it is a bit disappointing, still it is better than Fashion. The movie was released on 25 September 2015 and critics has given 3 stars to Calender Girls.
In Calendar Girls, Madhur has applied his old and trusted formula, where young women get a break, and then ups and downs in their life. Earlier Director Madhur Bhandarkar’s has given Chandni Bar, Page 3, Traffic Signal and Fashion kind of films to its audience, which won 11 national awards.

There is no doubt regarding Bhandarkar’s abilities as a director, like with Ram Gopal Verma (‘Satya’, ‘Company’—enough said). However, people must adapt, especially with a mass-oriented medium such as film. And it’s not as if there’s a paucity of issues in our country for a good filmmaker to pursue. Please, let’s get over the 90s.
