One of the major contributing factors in the formation of Narendra Modi-led Government was the social media and the internet savvy generation of the country and now our prime minister wishes to return the favor. Therefore, the ministry of telecom announced that BSNL broadband will be available with a minimum speed of 2 MBPS instead of 512kbps from 1st October that too without any extra cost.
While making the announcement telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Starting from 1st October, #BSNL across India will offer minimum 2Mbps speed to its #broadband users. This is another step towards improving BSNL services after free roaming and free night calling.”
This step can be viewed as a damage control exercise as the state-run PSU isn’t doing well and has lost more than 1.78 Cr mobile and 20 lakh landline customers in past 1 year. On the other hand, the competitors are offering better and affordable services, due to this, people gradually stopped using BSNL services resulting a loss of Rs. 7600 Cr. After the announcement, TRAI is also considering a change in Broadband’s definition, which defines it at 512kbps at the time.
So, it’s time to cheer up as your slow Broadband is to show some pace now, so happy browsing and do not forget to browse Punwadi.com for latest topics.
